For equipment rental companies
The operator's manual, on every machine, in plain answers.
Put a decal on each machine in your fleet. Whoever rents it scans and asks how to inspect it, start it, work a control or read an alarm, answered from the manufacturer's own manual and your rules, with safety first. Breakdowns, swaps and extensions reach your branch with the asset number already on them.
$499 per branch, unlimited machines. Nothing for renters to download.
See it in action
A renter on the jobsite, recorded live.
A contractor asks a rented scissor lift how to inspect it and how high it can go, hits an alarm, and asks the branch for help. Nothing on the assistant's side is scripted.
The manual is in the box on the platform. Nobody opens it.
Renters change every few days, and many are using that model for the first time. At pickup your counter staff explain what they can; on the jobsite the questions come anyway: how high it goes outside, what the alarm means, why it won't lift. They call the branch, guess, or do something the manual says never to do. Talking Manual answers from the manual for that exact machine, at the machine, at any hour, and sends the real problems to you with the asset number, the fault and where the machine is.
It knows this machine
Your fleet's manuals, not a guess.
A general chatbot knows scissor lifts in general. The answer that matters is the limit for this model, from its own manual, and a request your branch can act on.
| The manual box and a phone call | Talking Manual | |
|---|---|---|
| "How high can it go outside?" | Somewhere in 100 pages covering twelve models | This model's indoor and outdoor limits, in seconds |
| "What does this alarm mean?" | A call to the branch | What the manual says it means, and whether to stop |
| "Can I bypass the sensor?" | Depends who they ask | No, every time, and what to do instead |
| A first-time renter | Hopes for the best | Told plainly to get familiarized first, and offered a familiarization from your branch |
| A breakdown | "The lift on the Smith job is broken" | Asset number, the fault or alarm, where it is, whether it is parked safely, and a confirmed number |
| An extension or a fee | Promised by whoever answers | Never promised: your branch decides |
What renters ask it
Careful by design. The manual's limits always win. It never helps bypass an interlock, alarm or sensor, keeps the manual's power-line clearances, reminds renters to call 811 before digging and never to run an engine indoors, and tells anyone hurt or trapped to call 911 first.
How it works
One decal per machine. Manuals once per model.
Add your machines
Make, model and asset number. Manuals we hold load automatically; upload any other operator's manual once per model, and your rental terms once for the fleet.
Print the decals
One per machine, or the whole fleet four to a page. Put it by the controls. Laminate it or use weatherproof label stock.
Renters just ask
By voice, text or photo, in their own language. Nothing to download and no account. Requests reach your branch inbox with the asset number and the conversation.
Spec tables are where manuals go wrong in automated reading. For the models in our library, we check the limits against the manual's own pages.
A real one, working today
Ask a Genie GS-1930 scissor lift.
It answers from Genie's current operator's manual and quick reference guide, with the GS-1930's capacity, occupant, height, wind and slope limits checked against the manual's pages. Ask it what a renter would ask, or send it a photo of the controls.
Voice works best on a phone. Talking Manual is not affiliated with Genie or Terex; the demo uses their public manual.

What your company gets
Safer renters, fewer calls, and a fleet that comes back in better shape.
Fewer "how do I" calls
Controls, charging, the inspection, alarms and limits: answered at the machine, so your counter and your techs can work.
Safety you can point to
The manual's limits, every time. No bypassing safety devices. First-timers are told to get familiarized, and the request comes to you.
Breakdowns you can act on
Asset number, fault code or alarm, where the machine is and whether it is parked safely, with a confirmed number. Fewer wasted truck rolls.
No promises you didn't make
Extensions, swaps and waived fuel or damage charges are never promised. It sends the request; your branch decides.
See what confuses renters
Every question renters ask, per machine and anonymous. Cover the top ones at pickup, and in your familiarization.
In the renter's language
Crews ask in the language they think in, and hear the manual's answer back in it.
